2019
South Asian Games gold medalists Taekwondo instructors Mr. Gaurav Singh
said, "I learned Taekwondo at KCCI and now having an opportunity
imparting Taekwondo training to the Indian students is overwhelming.
Taekwondo is a discipline which helps the learners in providing a
balanced physical development by using all parts of the body, and not
only improves the basic physical strength but also has a positive effect
on personality development by teaching formality and manners through
the classes. This will have great impact on students returning to school
premises after such long break"
The Director of Korean Cultural
Centre India, Mr. Hwang Il-yong, said, “I sincerely thank the principals
of the 31 Indian schools for allowing to conduct Taekwondo classes for
students who returned to school after a lengthy two-year period. I
believe that the Taekwondo class can provide the balanced mind and body
training, at the same time, learning about Korea and Korean culture more
deeply.”
Taekwondo is a traditional Korean martial art with the
history of almost 2,000 years and is currently being practiced in 211
countries around the world. It was adopted as an official Olympic sport
in 2000. India also won a total of 26 medals at 2019 South Asian Games,
including nine gold medals.
"Taekwondo Class can Provide the Balanced Mind and Body Training"- Hwang
Vivek Sharma, 06th April 2022, New
Delhi: 3,331 students from 31 schools are taking up Taekwondo classes
conducted by Korean Cultural Centre India (KCCI) with the support of the
Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, the government of the
Republic of Korea (South Korea). These 31 MOU signed schools will have
19 Taekwondo instructors of KCCI Taekwondo Demonstration Team. Students
returning to schools is overwhelming but this also saw adverse effects.
Higher levels of stress, anxiety, different behavioral issues,
isolations, sadness was a common behavior noticed among students.
Maintaining physical distance and being prevented from playgrounds was
also a demotivating factor for students. At this point of time Taekwondo
can act as a real health and mental healer. It will not only bring back
the energy and zeal, will also help in adding self-confidence,
physically stronger, agile, flexible, and disciplined. It will also give
a chance for more active interaction with the peers.
