Bringing together prominent journalists from India and Sri Lanka, the festival serves as a unique platform for cross-border dialogue, collaboration, and the exchange of ideas. According to Santosh Menon, President of the Lanka-India Business Association (LIBA), the Media Fest is “about sharing ideas and opening channels between two nations through the power of media.”
“This is not just about journalism—it’s about connection,” Menon added. “It’s about understanding how reportage works across borders and creating a space where stories and experiences can flow freely.”
He further noted, “It helps to build a stronger bond between the two countries' journalism sectors, a connection that already exists but it helps to come more closer.”
The Media Fest is expected to be especially valuable for aspiring journalism students, young professionals, and other media stakeholders. It offers a rare opportunity to engage with seasoned media figures from both countries through workshops, panel discussions, and networking sessions. The event aims to foster a shared vision of borderless storytelling and regional cooperation.
Sri Lanka, emerging from a recent economic crisis, is making a concerted push to promote tourism, trade, and foreign investment. Events like the Media Fest are part of a broader effort to reintroduce the country to the world. Tourism, in particular, remains one of Sri Lanka’s strongest assets, with its stunning beaches, lush hills, and deep spiritual heritage attracting visitors from around the globe.
Media Fest Sri Lanka 2025 is more than just a celebration of journalism—it’s a forward-looking initiative to position media as a bridge between cultures, communities, and countries.
