Sh. Nilanjan Sanyal,
Secretary, Dept of AYUSH, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of
India inaugurated The National Conference on "Integration of Yoga (Specially
Meditation) into Medical Science", at Adhaytma Sadhana Kendra, Chattarpur,
Delhi-30. On 9:30 am 18th October 2014. Although Dr. Harsh Vardhan
was invited as Chief Guest but somehow he couldn’t came. The Conference was jointly organized by Saaol Health
and Research Foundation, Jain Vishwa Bharti, ASK Chattarpur and other Tera
Panthi Jain Organizations
The Famous Cardiologist Dr. Bimal Chhajer, MBBS, MD, the director of Saaol Heart Centre, Lajpat Nagar, New Delhi-24, was the convener of conference. The conference was fully supported by Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (An autonomous institution under Department of AYUSH, Government of India) and Indian Yoga Association, New Delhi.

In his inaugural speech Sh.
Nilanjan Sanyal has said that “yoga
has a big role in making good citizens of country”. He emphasized on making moral science and spirituality as a
part of modern education. Further he added “Yoga is going to be an elective subject in Medical Colleges”. He also told that yoga has a role in combating non
communicable diseases. He stated that government is going to take many
initiatives on promotion of positive health. He ended with an urge that lots of
research is needed in yoga for particular diseases.
The inaugural session was
blessed by divine presence of H.H.Ach.Shri Mahashramanji, with lots of his
profound devotees.
After Breakfast Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi, the Director of Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga (MDNIY), an autonomous
organization of Department of AYUSH, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt.
of India has delivered a presentation on “Principles & Methods of Yoga Research” .He elaborated five kind of Research in
the field of Yoga that are as follows:-
- Literary Research
- Philosophico-literary research
- Anatomy and physiological research
- Psychological research
- Clinical research
On
a question about ‘DongUiBoGam’ of Korea getting the UNESCO World Heritage
Literature status Dr Basavaraddi replied that all the ancient Text on Yoga will
be getting UNESCO world heritage status soon.
Dr.R.K.Tuli,
Former Chief Consultant Holistic Medicine, Indraprastha Apollo Hospital explained
the benefits of integrating Yoga into Medical practice. He elaborated the
holistic approach by saying no system is prefect in itself. He started by
saying `the Medicine do not cures, the willpower of self cures’. Although he admitted that Medical Science is
inevitable, he quoted “When
I produce my own Medicine, then I am healthy” .

Dr.
Raj Kumar Yadav, Additional Professor(Physiology) and Chief of Integral Health
Clinic, AIIMS,New Delhi explained about “How to start yoga clinic in medical Hospital”
The
1st day of conference was ended by a panel Discussion on “How to bring all Yoga Institute under one common
umbrella”
The
next morning Prof. K.K.Deepak, Department of Physiology,AIIMS,New Delhi gave an
enlightening presentation on “findings of Research on Meditation till now” and
Prof. R.S.Bhogal, Asst.Director(Research) Kaivalyadham Yoga Institute, Lonavla explained
about evolving meditation Therapy
Then
three Cardiologist, Dr. S.C.Manchanda,SirGangaRam Hospital,New Delhi,Dr. Satish
Gupta, Brahama Kumaris Ashram, Mount Abu and Dr.Bimal Chhajer,Saol Heart center
explained about yogic intervention in Heart Diseases.
