NEW DELHI: Industrial workers, unorganized labourers and
unions from the four districts of Gurgaon, Manesar, Dharuheda and Bawar in
Haryana, who till now had been Aam Aadmi Party supporters, are threatening to
reconsider their decision in light of Yogendra Yadav's nomination for Lok Sabha
from the Gurgaon seat. This is one of the many rebellions that have broken out
against the party in light of their candidate selection process. Workers say
that the party should have fielded someone from within their group or at least
consulted them before announcing a candidate.
In a letter written to party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Kuldeep
Jhanghu, general secretary of the Maruti Udyog Kamagar Union, who had also applied
for a ticket from AAP, has alleged that Yadav's selection was without following
due procedure and if appropriate action was not taken by the party, its future
in Haryana was likely to be quit bleak.
"Yogendraji was selected without due procedure. It shows
that party has become like other parties like Congress, BJP, INLD etc. Did
Yadav, Ashutosh, Kumar Vishwas, Medha Patkar etc apply for tickets before
January 31, which was the deadline for applications? My information is that
they did not," he said.
For Delhi elections, the party had issued names of
shortlisted candidates from each seat and invited suggestions against their
names before finalizing candidates. For the LS elections, the party cited a
shortage of time and multiplicity of applications which did not permit it time
to follow the same process.
"We will be holding a rally on March 5 which will be
attended by unions and trade workers from these four districts. In this
gathering we will decide whether to continue with our support to the party or
not. Our group has almost 4 lakh members," said Jhanghu.
